Alfred Bergbauer is Senior Vice President and Head of Multinational Casualty for XL Group’s North America Primary Casualty business.  Under Alfred’s leadership, XL Group helps multinational companies in North America address their cross-border insurance needs.  Using XL’s global network to provide coverage in over 100 countries and his team’s extensive experience and technical underwriting skill, Alfred helps multinational clients design global insurance programs that address their international legal, regulatory and tax compliance issues so that they can take advantage of all the business opportunities that the global economy has to offer.

Alfred joined XL Group in August 2012 from Marsh USA, Inc. where he served as multinational client service leader for the east zone since 2006.  His international insurance career spans more than 25 years, working in the US, China, Hong Kong, and the Philippines for such companies as ACE USA, Winterthur Insurance, Liberty Mutual Group, Continental Insurance and Insular General Insurance Company.  

Alfred earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio and an MBA from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College in Wellesley, MA. He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK).
