Dr. Kamal Hossain is Vice-Chair, Executive Council, International Law Association. A Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh and Barrister, he joined the legal profession in 1959, after obtaining an Honours degree in Jurisprudence, BCL and doctorate in International Law, from the University of Oxford.  Visiting Fellow, All Souls College, Oxford (1975) and Visiting Professor, Free University, Amsterdam (1997); Panel-D Chairman, UN Compensation Commission;  Judge ad hoc of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea in Hamburg (2003); Member of the Arbitral Tribunal under Annex VII of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, in the Land Reclamation case Malaysia v Singapore (2004-2005), and Guyana and Surinam (2005-2007).
