Intertek acquires Labs & Testing S.A. for £1.3 million

Intertek Group plc (Intertek), the leading international provider of quality and safety services to a wide range of industries, announces that it has acquired Labs & Testing S.A. (L&T), a provider of chemical, microbiological, non-destructive testing (NDT) and environmental services based in Santiago, Chile.

L&T, a privately owned company, was purchased on 30 November 2011 for a cash consideration of £1.3 million. It provides a wide range of chemical and microbiological services primarily in the Agri and Food segments for the fishing industry and the large supermarket chains, NDT services primarily for the mining sector and water safety testing for the petrochemical industry. It employs 80 staff.

This is a further expansion of Intertek's network within the Industry and Assurance division.  The acquisition of L&T broadens Intertek's Chilean and wider South American operations, bringing services to the food industry and NDT services for the first time.   L&T will support Intertek's global quality and safety services offering in the Industrials Services division.
