IBM Acquires Yet Another Cloud Services Firm In Bluetab

Posted: 19th July 2021 09:45

IBM is acquiring Madrid-headquartered Bluetab Solutions Group to extend its portfolio of data and hybrid cloud consulting services across Europe and Latin America.

It is the latest IBM cloud acquisition as Big Blue continues to flesh out its services offering in the growth sector.

This May, IBM moved to acquire Turbonomic to expand its hybrid cloud services around AIOps, using the captured firm's application resource management (ARM) and network performance management (NPM) software.

That buy complemented IBM's previous acquisition of Instana for application performance monitoring (APM) and observability, and the launch of IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps to automate IT operations using AI.

Last December, IBM acquired Helsinki, Finland-headquartered Nordcloud to expand its cloud services footprint across Europe.

Bluetab, which employs 700, will become a strategic part of IBM's data services consulting practice to help advance its hybrid cloud and AI strategy.

Founded in 2005, Bluetab has relationships with leading brands in the banking, telecoms and energy and utilities industries across Spain, Mexico, Peru and Colombia.

“The outside-in digital transformation of the past is giving way to the inside-out potential of using company-owned data with AI and automation to generate business value and create intelligent workflows,” said Mark Foster, senior vice president of IBM Global Business Services.

“Our acquisition of Bluetab will fuel migration to the cloud and help our clients to realise even more value from their mission-critical data.”

José Luis López, Bluetab co-founder, said: “IBM offers us the opportunity to continue to grow our team, to build on our technology accelerators and to help more clients achieve leadership positions by leveraging their data.”

Bluetab's staff will join the IBM Global Business Services unit. Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed. It is expected to close in the third quarter of 2021.
